2 out of 5 stars Red Ring of Death   October 26, 2007

Got the red ring of death today after only 10 months of use. Only solution is to send the console to Microsoft for repairs. This really is unbelievable.

5 out of 5 stars Enjoying this console as much as I enjoyed my NES as a kid!   October 26, 2007

This console is awesome. I made the switch from Sony to Microsoft and am very thankful. The PS3 is all market hype, the cell processor doesn't mean jack when it comes down to the games and the over hyped blue-ray discs are not the future. I honestly think next gen dvds are a waste right now, I just care about my gaming when it comes to my consoles.

The XBOX360 has been a breath of fresh air since I got it last year, I haven't had this much fun with a console since I was a kid with my first Nintendo. Oblivion, Fight Night, Gears Of War, Guitar Hero, Halo 3, Splinter Cell, Bioshock, the list goes on and I'm waiting for the new RPG trilogy Mass Effect.

The easy accessible demos and arcade games are another plus and add hours of fun. I've enjoyed classics like Pac Man and Street Fighter to newer Arcade games like Small Arms. I'm looking forward to the Battle Star Galactica Arcade game coming out next month.

I preferred the original PSX and PS2 controller over the original XBX controller, but I quickly got used to the 360 controllers and can't imagine going back to the tiny Playstation controllers.

With the extended warranty Microsoft has put out, gamers can purchase with confidence now. I know I feel much better knowing I have 2 more years of my warranty.

4 out of 5 stars Xbox 360 is the one for grownups   October 11, 2007

The reason we all buy these righteously fun machines is because of the amount and types of ridiculously unawarely timestealing fun games they bring forth. Xbox 360 while having a good deal of the same games as the competition, usually has theirs out first and some looking and playing better. But the thing that sets them apart is their exclusive games as Halo 3, Gears of War, and Ninja Gaiden 2 which will be coming out next year as well as all the incredible things that are available on Xbox live from game you can play while talking to your best friends across the world, downloading new games or even movies and tv shows and more to come. This is your machine for digital entertainment as I have not even covered it all. My hands are twitching, time for some bioshock.

5 out of 5 stars Easily one of the best consoles...   October 9, 2007

Pros:
*Good game selection-
The Xbox 360 has many exclusive titles to choose from, personally I think 360 games outdo the other systems. GoW, Halo, Mass Effect, and Bioshock, are some of the best titles on the market (and only on 360).
*Xbox Live-
Microsoft has invented the best online gaming system yet. I'm able to download movies, get new game demos, download extra stuff for my games, talk to my friends, and most importantly play with other people on my games. For some extra content you have to pay with "Microsoft Points", which you can either buy online w/a credit card or buy codes at stores. The only problem with this is that getting a connection may be tricky for some people, and you have to pay a price to play online.
*Good graphics-
Playing Gears of War on a standard def TV looks amazing, but on an HDTV its mind-boggling. Some people say the PS3 has better graphics capabilities, but with the right stuff they look the same.
*Nice Interface-
The best part about the interface is that it is customizable. On Xbox Live you can download new skins for the menus for a very small price. Also, you can now create your own "Gamertag" which pretty much is your ID. You can create your own picture, motto, and more. If you want you can even download new pictures on Live(the ones loaded on aren't that good), again for a small price. In addition to that Gamertags display a "Gamerscore" which shows how many "Achievments" you've earned. Achievments are pretty much a unique way to say what you've accomplished. You start with zero and earn so-many points each achivement you earn. Say you get a Triple Kill w/a Brute Shot in Halo 3, you'll get x number of points which adds to your grand total. Because each game has many Achievments you can play for hours just to show your Gamerscore off to other players on Xbox Live.
Cons:
*Previous Xbox games-
Even though most games from the original Xbox are playable, some aren't, and some can have lower FPS rates than on the original Xbox. It isn't all that important though.
*Rare overheating-
Many people stress that their 360s overheat often, but mine (which is in a cramped area) has only overheated once in 2 years.
*Small Hard Drive-
Compared to the PS3 (60GB) the Xbox 360's Hard Drive is puny(20GB), and can hold only a few demos and movies/shows. Of course you can upgrade to 120GB)
Summary:
The Xbox 360 is a great console, especially if you want good games and have online access. But you should buy the Xbox 360 Elite System Console Includes 120GB Hard Drive, because it comes w/120 GB and more.
NOTE: Don't listen to the hundreds of PS3 fanboys giving this item a bad review.

3 out of 5 stars It works, so far.   October 4, 2007

The hardest part to cope with for me was knowing that I was buying the most expensive paperweight ever, but Halo 3 came out and that was enough for me to buy this foot warmer. I've had mine for about a month now and so far, no problems. XboxLIVE is easy to use, no disc scratches, but I know all to soon that I'll be tossing this out the door when it "fails" like the rest. I don't understand why Microshaft didn't just recall and fix this problem all-together. No consumer wants to buy something new and know that what they are buying is going to break down in a matter of months, wait 6 weeks for it to be fixed and break down again.

What's the main problem that causes the RROD, well the solder they used wasn't meant to take the heat caused by the 360 and thus, hairline fractures occur. Experts say it's impossible to fix correctly, and that's why people keep having the same problem. Microshaft is giving is customers the shaft, but thanks to Halo 3, GOW, and its reasonable priced console of the line-up, its still racking sales.

My advice: You are buying this at your own risk. Just make sure you can get as much game time in with your favorite games before it blows.
