As DVD playback made the PlayStation 2 more than just a game machine, hefty multi-media features make the Sony PlayStation 3 an even more versatile home entertainment machine. Features such as video chat, Internet access, digital photo viewing, and digital audio and video will likely make it the central component of your media set-up. Still, it is first and foremost a game console--a powerful one at that. Now you can own this powerful console and start playing the most anticipated game of the year, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, right out of the box! Under the Hood of the PS3 The PS3 features IBM's "Cell" processor and a co-developed Nvidia graphics processor that makes the system able to perform two trillion calculations per second. That's approximately 320 times more calculations per second than the PS2. Along with the traditional AV and composite connections, it also boasts an HDMI port, which delivers uncompressed, unconverted digital picture and sound to compatible high-definition TV and projectors. The system is capable of 128-bit pixel precision and 1080p resolution for a full HD experience. | Bundled Playstation 3 Includes

| Playstation 3 Features Blu-Ray is the New Way Sony's PlayStation 3 games are encoded onto the Blu-Ray disc media format, which can hold six times as much data as traditional DVDs. This increase in capacity--combined with the awesome power of its processor and graphics card--promises mind-blowing games once developers have learned how to fully harness the new console's power. The PS3 will also support CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R formats. In addition, PlayStation 3 system software update version 2.20 and up includes BD Live support. With this you can now play discs that support Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 (BD-LIVE) and you can also connect to the Internet while playing discs that support this format so that you can obtain additional features. Features that are available vary depending on the software in use. - The Dualshock 3 Rumble Wireless Controller
The Dualshock 3 Rumble wireless controller for the PlayStation 3 system provides the most intuitive game play experience with pressure sensors in each action button and the inclusion of the highly sensitive SIXAXIS motion sensing technology. Each hit, crash and explosion is more realistic when the user feels the rumble right in the palm of their hand. It can even detect natural movements for real-time and high precision interactive play, acting as a natural extension of the user’s body. Dualshock 3 wireless controller utilizes Bluetooth technology for wireless game play and the controller’s USB cable to seamlessly and automatically charge the controller through the PlayStation 3 system at anytime. - Plays All PlayStation Games
The PlayStation 3 will be backward compatible with PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games, which means you'll be able to play all your favorite games without keeping all the old systems. The console will have slots for Memory Stick Duo, an SD slot and a Compact Flash memory slot. It comes with a pre-installed hard disc drive, which allows you to save games as well as download content from the Internet.
- Included in this bundle Metal Gear Solid 4!
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, is a next-gen experience complete with top-of-the-line graphics and surround sound designed for the Sony PlayStation 3. Featuring the most revealing display of Kojima Production's premier title, MSG4 details the world where Snake must under go his final mission. In a world overrun by private military companies (PMCs), wars are no longer fought over nations or ideologies. Instead, the wars of the future are micro-managed by overarching PMCs, right down to the bullet. New gadgets and abilities fuel Snake's journey deep into the enemy domains of the Middle East, South America, and beyond. New gear includes "Metal Gear Mk. II," the ultimate reconnaissance tool, and "Solid Eye," which gives Snake real-time information on enemies and his surroundings. Joined by a familiar cast of characters, Snake must once again return to the battlefield to confront his lifelong rival, Liquid Ocelot, who is manipulating the world's wars from the one world where soldiers will always have a place. But Liquid Ocelot is not the only one who will be able to manipulate the world's wars--Snake can destabilize opposing forces by working behind the scenes, supporting the local militia as they fight PMCs, creating a smokescreen that allows Snake to move freely within the war-zone.
- Online
Sony has stated that the PS3 will have similar online connectivity and services as the next generation of Xbox Live. Calling it "an always on, always connected device," SCEI's chief technical officer Masa Chatani said the PS3 would be constantly in touch with a "PlayStation World" network "fundamentally based on community, communication commerce, and content." Technically, the infrastructure is there to make that connection. The PS3 supports 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T Ethernet, as well as IEEE 802.11 b/g wireless networking protocols. |

Simply, wow! November 29, 2008 Christopher (Florida, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was looking at the current generation of video game systems for a year. I was not interested in the Wii because of its control style. I have arthiritis and the Wii's motion controlled games would not work for me. I applaud and love the idea; it's about time there was a video game system that forces the player to get some exercise. As for the X-Box 360, I didn't find having to pay monthly for its online feature appealing. Its price was great, but also played HD-DVDS, which as we all know, lost out to Blu-ray discs. Then I looked into the PS3. Damn this baby was not cheap. $500 for a video game system? I don't think so! I liked that it had free online access, played Blu-Ray movies and had alot of other cool features. So, I didn't make a decision for a long time. It was between either the more affordable 360 or the pricey, but free online feature laden PS3. It was only when I learned that Sony was phasing out the PS3's backward compatibility that I decided to get a PS3 with b/c. Having many PS2 games and not wanting two different game consoles, the PS3 was my choice. But again, the price was a bit too much. So I waited, and waited. When I made the leap to puchase the last remaining system with b/c, the MGS 4 bundle, I found it was out of stock in Amazon and local retailers and no longer manufactured. In sadness I wept for days. In anger I kicked my cat. Well, so there was no weeping or kicking of cats, but I was annoyed. Then one glorious day a kind soul on an Amazon PS3 MGS4 bulletin board alerted me that it was back in stock. The skies parted, Heavens opened up and the angels sang Hallelujiah! A.D.D. moment...I think the Lord Almighty Obama had something to do with the miraculous reappearance of the MGS4 bundle. I had hoped for change and change has come! The PS3 MGS4 bundle hath returned! Praise Obama! Ahem...anyways... The long story short. I came. I saw. I purchased. And PS3 MGS4 bundle conquered me. Free online where you can rent or buy movies, download games, play Blu-Ray movies, and immerse yourself into graphically beautiful video games. This system was well worth the depression of my poor, poor wallet. And a quick side note. Thanks goes to those who helped me in the Amazon MGS4 bulletin boards! You guys rock!
Worth every penny! November 25, 2008 J. Wright 1 out of 1 found this review helpful

incredible machine November 23, 2008 pandabear (Westminster,CO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The PS3 MGS 4 bundle is great. I bought this because of the backward compatibility. What i've enjoy the most from my PS3 is the playstation store. It's the online shop for your PS3. By connecting your PS3 to the internet you can download free demos, game add-ons and games. I've downloaded 10 demos and all the free Little Big Planet costumes. The dual shock 3 controller rumble function also works with PS2 games with rumble control. If your PS3 is connect to the internet and have the current system update you can use BD LIve. With Blu-Ray Iron Man. the BD Live feature is a extensive Iron Man quiz. The only annoying part about the PS3 is the PS3 games have to be loaded on to the hard drive first.
play station 3 80 GB metal gear solid 4 game pack November 20, 2008 Robert Cherry (Covina, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The play station 3 is great, the games are great & the back play for the play station 2 are fantasic. All of my old games work with no problems, the only set back was that you need to buy a plug in adapater to use your old memery card from the old play station 2 which was about $15.00. The play station 3 works with your CDS, DVDS, and BLU-Rays. This is the best game system made. I would buy this system again if needed.
The best option for a PS3 November 16, 2008 Tiffany T. Tran (Richmond, VA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I took a long time trying to decide on what PS3 system to purchase. I wanted this MGS4 package because of its backwards compatibility, four USB cables, and memory card readers. It did not disappoint me at all and it has been running excellent from day one. It was a little more expensive but with the DualShock 3 controller and a copy of MGS4, it would be the same price to me if I had purchased it all separately. Get one while you can!
