Ring up the fun with the Teaching Cash Register! A perfect addition to any pretend store, this talking cash register helps teach basic math and money skills through creative play. Filled with engaging activities and a drawer stashed with life-size (make-believe) cash, the Teaching Cash Register helps kids make sense of currency with a coin reader that identifies both real and plastic coins. Other features include a generous LCD screen that shows transaction values in large, easy-to-read numbers, a working scale, and a scanner for pretend coupons and credit cards. Four interactive learning games take kids through multiple levels of play, increasing in difficulty as players advance their math skill levels. Large buttons help little fingers total up the orders, while lights and sounds capture the imagination. Winner of numerous awards, including an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award, the interactive Teaching Cash Register develops logic, reasoning, and coin recognition skills, and helps animate lessons about addition, subtraction, counting money, making change, and decimal usage. Measuring approximately 14 by 9-3/4 by 9 inches, the Teaching Cash Register requires 3 C batteries (not included) to power its playful "ka-ching!" --Heather Lyndon

3 out of 5 stars Daughter loved it but...   January 6, 2009

In the process of returning it to Amazon because the drawer kept sticking. Will probably order another one. 3 year old daughter anxiously awaiting her cash register.

5 out of 5 stars AnGreat Way To Learn Math!   January 6, 2009
Anne M. Raso (New York, NY)
I got this for my five-year-old niece and found it to be a great tool in helping her learn addition and subtraction. We played "market" with it and we would take turns tallying up our "fake food" and putting the correct amount in the cash register...or we would make change. My only complaint is that you have to be gentle when unscrewing the battery compartment. I very easily stripped the screw down there and I was using the correct super-tiny screwdriver to do so. Anyway, I give this five stars for cuteness of product as well!

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful toy with one flaw...   January 3, 2009
David Dressler (Cincinnati, OH)
We bought this for my youngest daughters, who are ages 3 and 4. They LOVE it; in fact, we have video footage of the two of them screaming in rage at each other as they fight over who gets to use it first! The fact that they don't usually do this is a tribute to how much fun it is.

The only problem we have encountered is that the entire register stops functioning if the "coin bank" door is ajar. Unfortunately, the machine determines whether it is open by way of a very small and fragile tab. It got stuck in the open position 3 days after we bought it, and I had to fix it with a flathead screwdriver (the tab is blue, located on the left side of the coin bank). Obviously, it is possible that we received a defective cash register, and everyone else's will work fine.

5 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT LEARNING TOOL   December 10, 2008
Milay's Mom
After researching many different learning cash registers, we chose this one for our daughter last Christmas. This is an excellent toy/learning resource. Now that she is in 1st grade, she is actually using it more. When friends come to play, it works great as a scanner cash register..and she likes to "weigh" the produce. As a mom, I like that the toy turns itself off..battery saving and it has the math games in different levels as well. This is an excellent product and well worth the money. You will get years out of this product!

5 out of 5 stars They love it.   December 6, 2008

I bought this for my daughters 5th birthday, and her and her cousins wanted to play with it above all of her other gifts.(and she got some cool stuff). She likes coin quiz a lot, and has already learned a lot more about money.
I recommend this toy.
