Shopping games, no matter when they're introduced to the market, all have the same objective: shop 'til you drop! This one is no different. For detractors, Mall Madness may teach and encourage over-consumption, indebtedness, and a focus on material culture at an early age (9 and up). But for those who care more about pretty ponchos than prickly politics, the game offers the same guilty pleasure that comes from excessive shopping in reality! A mall in miniature, the game's 21 by 30-inch, 3-D board and electronic console includes a food court (for which there are tokens), mall stands, an escalator, and plenty of shops, "mall money" and "cash cards" to go around. Grownups and kids (up to 4 players) who can make six purchases without too many pitfalls win the game--a claim in reality that the stores usually make. Diane Beall

4 out of 5 stars Birthday Present for a 10 year old   September 29, 2008
Joan Feid (Pike, New Hampshire)
I gave my granddaughter this gift for her birthday. She had told me she wanted it. It appeared to be hard to put all the pieces together to me but within 5 minutes all girls present at the party had it together and were playing with it. They all seemed to like it so I guess the gift was a winner.

4 out of 5 stars pretty fun   January 22, 2008

this game is really fun.
it comes with cards and u can choose a character
each characters card had different items you can buy
the electronic speaker is really easy to listen to although sometiems you have to listen to it more carefully.
if you want to buy soemthing, you have to swipe your credit card
sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesnt

5 out of 5 stars We love this game!   January 3, 2008
Min Pin Mama (New York)
I was so excited to see that they still made this game. I had it when I was a little girl! I bought it for my 8 year old and she LOVES it! It's fun, strategic and girly. It's kind of a pain to set up the 1st time, but after that it's a breeze. I love that she manages her money and strategizes. Great game!

5 out of 5 stars Total hit   June 14, 2007

I bought this game for my granddaughter, never dreaming it would become such a favorite. It was a little tricky to set up initially, but once we got the lay of the "mall," we had no problems. It makes the participants understand that you can't just buy everything, but that making the required number of purchases requires a little planning. If you need more money, it takes precious time to get it, and your opponents are still moving around the mall. The electronic element is fun, as the sales are constantly moving from store to store, sometimes an item is out of stock, and you can suddenly get sent to see a movie. Even the grownups seem to enjoy playing.
