This set rocks! And comes with rocks! August 23, 2010 Michael D. Williams (UT) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The very best set since the original master set. New rule changes and adding to the fun make this product essential. It is much larger than you would expect despite only having 10 figures. Much larger than the Marvel set but not quite as big as the original master set. The price is a bargain. Easily the best value of any of the other sets. No question! This game is fun to play whether you are a child or an adult. I think it is more fun to play when you are an adult. I have more fun with this game in my mid 30's than I did with most toys and all board games as a child. Even people my age can't believe how cool it is and want to play it.
Fun. Teaches strategy to the little ones....... August 23, 2010 Keith E. Kowalski 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a long time Dungeons and Dragons player. I bought this set because the son of a neighbor brought over their Heroscape Swarm of the Marro set. The two boys (7 & 8 years old)had fun building the pieces and playing with the figures. I saw the Dungeons and Dragons version on Amazon and said "What the heck!"
So far I have been pleasantly surprised. We have played it at least a dozen times. My son has learned the basic rules and has adopted some basic strategy concepts such as when to use ranged attacks, swarm attack one enemy until he drops and don't split the party (some much older adventurers still need to learn that one). My wife, who does not play D&D or any game except cards and dominoes, has learned the basic rules and now plays along as well.
I wouldn't recommend it for younger or immature kids. There are lots of little pieces and the rules are not easy. If you are looking for a step up from Chutes and Ladders, this is not it.
My advice: Be patient. Have fun. Let them win the first few, even if they shouldn't. For example, my son was very distressed the first time his dragon fell. Once he realized that we simply finished the game, reset it and then his dragon was good to go, he was all smiles. "I'll get you this time daddy!"
If you have read this far, admit it to yourself that you want it and buy the game. It's cheaper than movies and popcorn out for the family. Try it. If you don't like it sell it on the bay site for about 70% of what you paid. Some of the older sets are going for crazy amounts.
Good game! August 22, 2010 Animus This was a good game, a very good way to play D and D style game play with a twist! I love it!
Wonderful alternative to electronics! May 23, 2010 Plaker (Plumas Lake, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My grandson is a die hard electronics and computer game nut. He would literally spend 24/7 on his PS3, handheld gamer, or computer - then a friend got him interested in the Heroscape game. This apparently is a game dating back some years, but has the ability to capture the imagination of 13 year olds. It's made out of tough plastic, but requires analytical skills and the lure for interacting with others. This is rather a hard to find, but we've been attempting to get him the entire set so that he can include others. It's nice to see something like this resurrected! Cudos!
Fun and enjoyable. May 4, 2010 Chad House (Pittsburg, Kansas USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought a bunch of different packages of Heroscape. My 11 year old son enjoyed playing it. Alot to this game, lot of math and reading. Didn't take him long to catch on. Had a ball even losing to him. Great game.
