its touch and go---- a must read if you are serious about buying him August 30, 2010 Ryan899uv7 i always liked jetfire as a transformer. this toy does him justice but not hommage. for a toy hes below average. hes not very sturdy. as a robot his back/ rear side is very heavy and keeps his from standing up and balancing with ease. parts of the top of the plane become his shoulder gaurds but they are very weak ball and joint pieces. and you cant glue them to stay in place because it means you cant transform him then. towards his mid section its a freakin rock so theres mostly no worry there. his arms are very skinny but thats good in a way. towards his bottom his feet offer most of the balance. they are really big. his legs however are large and bulky yet offer very little support to properly get him standing. its a tedious effort of correctly positioning the joints on a flat surface and even when you do that the toy tips over most of the time. as a plane hes not that great. in the item picture you can see how the item is curved a tiny bit. this is true. all the parts assemble very sloppy to for a very fragile plane.the top looks alright as seen in picture however the bottom is a mess because his legs, arms, body, and head are all folded and stored down there. his cane becomes the landing gear and is alright as a landing gear but not as a cane as the part that bends continues to bend when the weight of the toy is applied to it. the toy is best used as a toy when combined to optimus. it adds crazy weight but at least optimus can support the weight. other than that the toy can become a figurine . parents avoid buying because to transform is a hassle and many pieces will break away with two hours of moderate play. collectors can buy because they wont play with it ( i hope ) great concept but bad engineering and desing by the guys at hasbro...4/5
Transformers Jetfire-- flimsy April 20, 2010 T. B. Sauer 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This toy is not half as good as I had expected. When I bought it for my son, he was elated and immediately opened it. However, after two rough hours of attaching and reattaching many pieces that kept falling off, he was disappointed. He is usually good about toys that aren't up to his standards, but this one just didn't cut it. He finally got frustrated and told me he didn't desire to play with it anymore. So I naturally wanted to know what was the matter. I went over and read the instructions, and was puzzling over it for about 10 minutes until I had to ask my older daughter's help. After reading thoroughly twice, she told me she thought she understood. However, when she attempted to put it together, a piece fell off-- one of the same pieces that had discouraged my son. We kept trying, until she finally gave up in despair. We were all disappointed with the toy, and I wouldn't suggest buying it unless you really enjoy latching and re-latching on minuscule parts and trying to make out difficult instructions. In my opinion, it is flimsy and there is really no way to actually PLAY with it.
My son thinks it's awesome! February 21, 2010 K. Cannon (Oviedo, Fl) My son wanted this toy because it powerlinks to Optimus Prime, and it wasn't readily available in the local stores. He loves Transformers, and has a huge collection. They are very durable.
Transformer Fever February 18, 2010 MIMI (Memphis,TN) Bought this for my son.It is very well built and sturdy. He connects it to his Optimus Prime all the time. It's better built than Optimus,I am not sure if that is becuase it came from the store. He doesn't leave the house without it.
A Favorite February 15, 2010 KAM I got this for my son, who is eight. He loves Transformers and has most of them. This is one of his faves.
