Horrible ... I expected more from Leap Frog September 10, 2008 K. Green I have always been happy with Leap Frog products and the name alone would sell me on them. I will be more careful buying stuff now. This is the worst game I have ever used. My 5 year old daughter can't manipulate the writing screen with the pen. It jumps all over the place and disappears. The graphics are horrible, sound is horrible. It came with a Dora cartridge that has basically different versions of 2 games...no variety and they have a time limit to play and it moves and she can't work the joystick and button at the same time. Since the letters continually move it is just frustrating for her and she can't get past one game whether she knows the answers or not. There is no learning curve at all for a beginning learner. Basically 3 strikes and your out and you have a limited time to get those 3 strikes. It doesn't teach anything. Taking it back tomorrow.
Stay away at all costs! August 14, 2008 J. Foust (Atlanta, GA) Bought this for my son for his 4th birthday. I thought it was going to be more like Video games with the controller, but the included Dora game and the extra Nemo game that we bought stunk! They almost exclusively used the drawing pad, which is inaccurate and hard to use. You have to press down hard on the pen to get it to properly register, which made it very hard for my son to use. The graphics are HORRID. Think NES (or worse). I plugged it up to my 46" HDTV and had to sit on the far end of the room to make out anything on the screen because it's so blocky... Luckily the cables they give you are plenty long! So I tried it on a 27" tube TV in the basement and it still looked like garbage. I bought it at Toys R Us, and they weren't going to take it back because I had opened it... Luckily I raised enough heck to get them to take it back and was able to exchange it for something else. I guess that will teach me to buy something like that on a whim without looking up a few reviews first!
It died almost immediately June 24, 2008 Jason B. Gabel (Athens, TN) A lot of people complained about the graphics ... but a duh it is project the same graphics it puts out on the tiny screen. Ours got hot quick and essentially died. It will now play only for a few minutes before it shuts down. Total piece of junk no where near the quality of the leapsters themselvees.
Excellant product on a right size TV April 10, 2008 Kuiporng (Canada) I saw many reviews complaining about the graphic distortion.... may be the reviewers using a too large screen. I got one last night and install it on a 19" TV set... the graphics is , in my point of view, excellant... I didn't try it on my 37" LCD but can imagine it may be not as good... the bottom line is... my son love it... he played cars on the leapster TV and the whole family enjoy it... we also have the leapster hand held... but I wouldn't understand why someone want to look at the 10 times smaller dimmer screen.... when you can have all the excellant view from a TV.... it just so much better... I think the leapster is now going to be the on the road toy rather than at home toy....
Great Learning Toy! February 14, 2008 C. D. Giles (Nephi, UT USA) This has been a great item for my grandkids to learn on. They spend a lot of time inside and they would rather play the games on their Leapster Learning System then other action TV systems that are in their home. Children under 5 can easily understand the system and play the games without a lot of adult supervision.
