Product Description 200 Watts Power Bridged / 80 Watts per Channel x 2 Channel Stereo / Use as Remote amp for single or dual zone / A/B Speaker Select Stable into 2 ohm loads
Amazon.com Product Description A terrific choice for a remarkably affordable system upgrade or building block, the AudioSource Amp 200 high-current stereo power amplifier offers 80 watts RMS per channel x 2 or, in bridged mono mode, up to 250 watts x 1 (into 8-ohm speakers in both cases). Now you can scale your listening to match your budget: use either 1 amplifier or 2 for stereo sound or 5 or more in concert for full-blown home-theater excitement--perfect for your DVDs, multichannel DTV broadcasts, or high-resolution audio formats like DVD-Audio and SACD. Keep in mind that this is an amplifier only, with no volume control or onboard surround processing (though it does offer independent adjustable output controls for each channel). It's designed for use with a stereo preamplifier or a surround receiver offering preamplifier outputs. Making the move from 5.1- to 6.1- or 7.1-channel surround sound? If your receiver has preamp outputs for all channels, there's no need to replace your 5.1 surround receiver. Just feed the additional center or surround signals to a strategically positioned Amp 200. Connections consist of a choice of RCA (line-level) or clip-type (speaker-level) inputs and banana-plug-friendly binding-post speaker terminals for outputs. There's also set of stereo (left/right) RCA passthrough jacks for use in a daisy-chain setup. The amp works with 12-volt power-on/-off circuitry and also features a signal-sensing circuit for automatic power-on/-off, making it as ideal for custom installers as for end users. Its A and B speaker outputs let you power speakers in your main room, a second room, or both rooms simultaneously. The amplifier's toroidal power supply keeps distortion extremely low (less than 0.04 percent).

great amp, but check price April 2, 2010 Kevin Watt (San Jose, CA) I'm getting intermittent left-channel dropping on this after 1.5 years of continuous use. I'm not sure whether thats typical or not, but this far I've been very happy with the unit.
Beware the price - the current seller is charging about twice what they should be for it. Check around first.
AudioSource Amp 200 March 15, 2010 Harlock Bought a used item, but it appears to be fine. Using it with Klipsch WB-14 bookshelf speakers to play HD radio, XM Radio, and my iPods. Sounds good to me, pretty simple to use and very convenient.
Wow that's heavy! December 24, 2008 D. McInnis (Rochester, NY, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am not an audiophile.
But I am fairly picky..
Before even opening the box you'll notice that this little beasty is heavy. ;-)
We've been very happy with this amp. It's an excellent deal for the money.
It's simple, well built, well thought-out, and sounds pretty good.
Connection are all quite nice, controls are pleasant, and the standby/active indicator is effective without being obnoxious.
The auto-on/off feature is a nice touch.
We using a Squeezebox Duet as the sole input, and it drives a pair of Canton 602s. In my simplistic analysis, the sound is fairly even across the frequency range allowing for only modest bass support as you would expect with these speakers. It's pretty clean, but not exactly 'warm'.
Honestly, I'm surprised you can get anything that sounds this good at this price. So 5-stars it is.
Meets Expectations! December 16, 2008 Explore 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm building a 2-story addition, with a basement, onto my home and wanted to set up 6 sets of speakers exclusive from my main 7.1 receiver's powered speakers through the receiver's Zone 2. I purchased 3 Amp 200's to have one amp for each two sets of speakers, with an independent volume for each set, and it sounds great! I bridged the amps through the Line 2 In then Out and it works perfectly. At a price below $200 each amp this is a no brainer for anyone looking to go multi-room. Highly recommended and I'll let you know how things go later regarding reliability. M
Good high current amp for critical listeners! December 4, 2008 T. Loughrey (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used this amp for about 9 months with no problems. It is driving a very inefficient pair of era D4 speakers. I use it in my bedroom sytem with a Squeezebox, so I only need one input and I don't need a pre-amp. (if you are wondering, I set the SB volume between 30 and 60 - I know you are supposed to run it high, but it sounds fine. I would rather not limit the amp enough to run the SB at 60-90.)
I had an old receiver in the system and my era D4s would shut it down. This amp does a great job. On avsforums, the speaker designer recommends $800 amps to drive the speakers in order to get good current (MF, Rotel, etc). I actually have a monster MF amp in another system, but this audiosource is driving my most inefficient speakers. How about that? Great value here - even if I ever encounter a problem, the money saved upfront will make up for it. Heck, if I never bought the MF and went with audiosource, I could have another system or better speakers!
