Equipped with this movie-authentic helmet, kids don't just look like Optimus Prime, but also miraculously alter their voices to sound like him. This incredibly detailed voice changer helmet is constructed of durable plastic. View larger. View Side.

Authentic Design
The Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet is incredibly detailed, resembling Optimus Prime right down to the grooves on his forehead plate. Constructed from durable plastic and finished in vivid colors, this helmet is virtually indistinguishable from the Optimus Prime in the movie. If your child isn't using it as a toy, you could easily put it out as a display piece. The helmet also features easy-to-adjust straps, which fit the helmet comfortably over your child's head.

Transform Your Voice
This helmet uses an incredible voice modulator system to transform your young hero's voice and make it sound just like Optimus Prime's. It doesn't matter whether you're a little kid or a full-grown adult -- when you speak through the microphone, your voice will instantly be changed into the rich baritone of the Autobots commander. In addition to changing its wearer's voice, the helmet also features sound effects and has five different voice clips from the movie. Unforgettable lines such as "I am Optimus Prime" can be played at the touch of a button, making this the ideal role-playing toy.

About Transformers
The Transformers began as a Hasbro toy line back in 1983, featuring toy vehicles that could transform into robots. The toys soon inspired an entire universe of fictional story lines, pitting the two factions of Transformers -- the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons -- against one another. A live-action movie based on the Transformers was released in 2007 and has continued the toy line's extreme popularity. With toys such as the Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet, kids can bring home the struggle between the Autobots and Decepticons.

4 out of 5 stars Voice changer helmet   January 6, 2009

I got this helmet for my 4-year old grandson and he loves it! We've had a problem keeping some of the pieces on it, but it doesn't bother him and they are not necessary to its purpose.

3 out of 5 stars My boy loves it - but I think the voice is a little scary   January 4, 2009

My son loves it, all the kids who come over do too...but I find the voice it makes scary and annoying and all the adults who have heard it agree with me. It is durable, loud and looks cool but I have to warn you on the voice if you have little ones at home.

I bought this toy for my son for his 6th birthday, and it was a big hit - for everyone at his birthday party!

4 out of 5 stars Domo arigato Santa Claus   December 25, 2008

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RS34EZDWHBW44 So, Santa came through this year. After 6 months of lists, hints, and wheedling, this voice changer helmet found its way under the Christmas tree, and we're even considering letting the kid play with it.

It is of sturdy plastic construction, with impressively detailed features, and best of all, it can fit an adult sized head, thanks to an adjustable strap at the back.

It works with 3 AA batteries (included), and using buttons at the side, you can make it say four battle phrases or make the sound of Prime transforming. Of course it also changes your own voice to sound robotic, even though you'll have to at least TRY to sound like Optimus Prime to make it sound genuine. Way cool even if you don't manage to send shivers down Decepticon spines.

The only minor problem is that is also changes the voices of people close to you, so once they're speaking, you'll also hear their voices transform.

Anyway, gotta run - Decepticons to defeat and all that.
Transform, and roll out!!

My then nearly five year old son saw one of these in a store and said he wanted it for his birthday in October. For the next two months, we occasionally asked him what he wanted for this birthday and he kept reminding us about this toy, so we ordered it for him.

On his birthday, he was very happy to open the box, but something his mom and I noticed quickly was that there is no volume control on the helmet and the speaker on the top of the helmet is a bit loud to be that close to developing ears. I had to splice a pair of resistors inside the helmet in order to reduce the volume to a more acceptable level. Also, my son complained that the helmet hurt his nose, which I think is due to the weight distribution. The batteries and speaker are all on the top and so the top-heavy helmet tends to pull forward when worn.

While he was excited before getting the toy and was very happy to receive it, he has only played with it twice in the two months since then. Maybe when he is older he will enjoy it more, but right now it looks like he might not be playing with it too many more times.

My advice: Don't get this one for younger kids. Instead I recommend the Darth Vader voice changer. It has the batteries and speaker in the chest box so the helmet is lighter and more comfortable to wear and does not have the sounds as close to the wearer's ears. The Darth Vader is also easier to fix, only a few screws to remove to get to the electronics, while this one I had to disassemble completely in order to reach the wires and speaker.
